More and more people have opted for liposuction in the past few years, mainly due to the advancement in the technology used to conduct the procedure. There are less invasive techniques offered today which were not available years ago. Older techniques such as Liposonix and Smart Lip only stop at breaking fat tissues down without removing them. However, modern liposuction methods such as Advanced Laser Lipolysis, prove to be more effective and minimally invasive. It makes use of Liposculpture and the suction technique of removing the fat tissues.

There are more patients now who feel safer with laser liposuction because of the following benefits:

  • Patients can undergo the procedure under local anaesthetic.
  • The procedure is done entirely in the Cosmetic Makeover Clinic.
  • The patient does not have to stay overnight at the hospital.
  • Laser liposuction is still effective even in the small areas that are difficult to access.
  • The procedure is minimally invasive, minimising the disruption on the patient’s routine.
  • Laser liposuction does not only remove fat tissues but also create skin contraction.

During the Advanced Laser Liposuction procedure, two- to three-millimetre incisions will be made on the skin to let the fibre optic laser pass through. The laser then emits enough energy to target the fat cells and melt them in the process to facilitate their removal. This is the step called the lipolysis. The extraction of the melted fat tissues will then be done by inserting a cannula through the previously made incisions. After the removal is done, the laser is re-inserted to trigger skin contractions and tighten the skin of the treated areas. This will guarantee that you will get a tauter and firmer skin.

The extent of the surgery and the quantity of fat that has to be removed will determine how long you will be on the operating table. Due to the sensitivity of the procedure, cosmetic surgeons only allow two areas at most to be treated simultaneously. In most cases, they can remove around 500 mL to a litre of excess fat during a single procedure. This is why some patients may need to visit our clinic to have the same procedure performed on other areas.

Our cosmetic surgeons often perform Advanced Laser Liposuction in the following areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Love handles
  • Chins and jowls
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Armpit
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Bra areas
  • Male chest
  • Ankles

Patients have to take a few days off work to rest, although they can revert to their daily routine the very next day. It is quite normal to have some swelling, tenderness, and bruising in the areas that were treated. It is also important to endure having to wear a compression or support garment for a week day in and day out. In the following week, the garment can be worn only during the day to abate the swelling. Exercise routines are also prohibited for a week after the surgery. Going to work is allowed as long as it does not include exerting too much force.

Cosmetic Makeover’s Advanced Laser Lipolysis entails getting rid of the fat that leads to significant and almost instant results, which eventually get better over time. It would take about six to twelve months for the expected result to fully show itself.

Our liposuction cosmetic surgeons at Cosmetic Makeover have handled hundreds to thousands of liposuction cases, most of which ended up being successful.
